There are nearly one million people in jail in the United States for non-violent activities related to the use, possession, cultivation, transportation or sale of marijuana. The purpose of this site is to make available a place for everyone who supports the idea of Nojailforpot to sign his or her name, and make it proudly public for everyone to see. The people below have taken the significant step of putting their names to this important declaration, for all the country to see.

Tobacco has been spared from the drug war, even with a far greater addictive strength than marijuana. Alcohol has been spared from the drug war. It is time we demand consistency in the laws. Either ban alcohol and tobacco, or legalize pot. The "pot is dangerous" argument fails when alcohol and tobacco are included as "drugs" yet Congress has declared that tobacco is "NOT A DRUG". This defies reason, and creates a double standard which totally undermines the stated purpose of the drug war.

Marijuana saved my life when I needed help dealing with my own mind. The personal liberties that I believe in and that are guaranteed in our Constitution allow me to make the decision for myself whether I choose to use marijuana or any other substance, including alcohol, tobacco, and even caffeine. I cannot express my rage when government and political suppression of human liberty result in the imprisonment of non-violent individuals, and, worse, the death of people like Peter McWilliams. -Justin Martin

I do not smoke marijuana. My brother in law, a very good man has been ruined by marijuana being illegal. He lost a State job after 20+ years for testing positive. He has a wife and three kids. It has torn the family apart, he has had to move to another city to seek employment and my sister has been left here alone. What is wrong with this world. I take legal narcotic medicine and know how it affects people and how people can become seriously addicted. But they will never be punished for it, even the ones who abuse it. It is no ones' damn business what people do on their own personal time. People go to work high on pain pills and with massive hangovers EVERY DAY which is think is terribly worse than having smoked a joint the night before or during the week-end. I will do whatever I can to help this become legal. I personally do not smoke marijuana, I have tried it in the past but do not enjoy it. Let me know of any way I can help.

Legalizing marijuana would be bennificial to the U.S. because it would make sure no one gets "laced" pot
