There are nearly one million people in jail in the United States for non-violent activities related to the use, possession, cultivation, transportation or sale of marijuana. The purpose of this site is to make available a place for everyone who supports the idea of Nojailforpot to sign his or her name, and make it proudly public for everyone to see. The people below have taken the significant step of putting their names to this important declaration, for all the country to see.

I believe if you legalize marijuana, the majority of the problem would go away. The government could control it. It could be taxed the same way cigarettes are, which would lower the deficit even more. It could also create new jobs in the US. I know many people who initially tried it because it was taboo, so there must have been something to it. I no longer smoke pot, but did for many years. We need to stop treating people who use it as felons and go after real criminals.

As a victim of the drug war myself, this is a very personal issue. I think it's really foolish of politicians who bow under political pressure when faced with more than ample evidence of marijuana's relatively harmless effects (relative to alcohol, for example). It's difficult for me to comprehend how these politicians ignore all logic, and continue to waste billions of dollars to keep medically useful -plants- out of America.

I've always believed that if you live a productive life doing the things not only that have to be done but also the things that are fun to do and you keep your priorities in line, it doesn't matter what you do privately behind closed doors for relaxation and enjoyment.I've always looked at it as this.....some people come home from a hard days work and pop open a beer.Others come home and light up a joint. What's the difference?Besides alcohol can ultimately kill you in so many ways....when's the last time you ever heard of someone dying from smoking pot!
