We would like to thank our newest Signers - Timothy Richardson, Stanton Bell, Steven Kershaw, and Heather Thornton!

There are nearly one million people in jail in the United States for non-violent activities related to the use, possession, cultivation, transportation or sale of marijuana. The purpose of this site is to make available a place for everyone who supports the idea of Nojailforpot to sign his or her name, and make it proudly public for everyone to see. The people below have taken the significant step of putting their names to this important declaration, for all the country to see.

The war against drugs is the greatest domestic disaster in the history of the United States. It makes crimes out of things which are not crimes. The war on drugs causes our children to be poisoned, because they are unable to obtain their drugs from a legal reliable company. The Governments war on drugs turns our city streets into shooting galleries, and tears apart at the foundations of our freedom. Children are shot to death by police in botched drug raids (as in Mendicino county in September), and men and women killed, all for the promise of asset forfeiture (as in the case of Donald Scott in 1992). The torturous failed war on drugs must end. It will end. And here is the place to begin. Now. No more dead men women and children. Ever again!

The creator gave us seed. That seed grew into a plant. What I do with that plant is between myself and the creator. I may want to spin it's fiber into a shirt. For my government to forbid this is shear arrogance. If it takes marijuana activism to make the cultivation of hemp a moot point, SO BE IT! Do our beaurocrats really think locking an otherwise law abiding, taxpaying, productive citizen into a violent prison environment will make him/her a better wo/man.

If we treated people who supply the two deadliest drugs(tobacco and alcohol)to the underaged this whole thing would end in a heartbeat.

When a drug user,of non-violent intent,is more feared than a murderer or thief,a nation is in its terminal decline!

Jean Diamond

Prisons are a growth industry in this country where we have over one million people in jail. There is something wrong with this in a free country. Victimless crimes should not be subject to this calumny.

Brandee Schmidt
Keene, NH 03435

Time and money should be spent towards criminals who are hurting other people and less towards people who are doing something private and non-violent in their own home.

I concur 100% with what this declaration states.
