There are nearly one million people in jail in the United States for non-violent activities related to the use, possession, cultivation, transportation or sale of marijuana. The purpose of this site is to make available a place for everyone who supports the idea of Nojailforpot to sign his or her name, and make it proudly public for everyone to see. The people below have taken the significant step of putting their names to this important declaration, for all the country to see.

Anyone with half a brain knows that marijuana is NOT a dangerous drug. That said, there is no reason for it to be illegal other than someone back in 1937 in our governmnet who stood to pocket a large sum of money to make it that way. If you look at history, you will discover the real reasons. Business and industry, namely Hearst Publishing and various chemical manufacturers associated with processes attached to paper production along with the petroleum industies stood to loose millions by allowing hemp to be mass cultivated for paper, cloth, fuel, etc. So the easiest thing to do was to get the government to outlow it. This has continued for over half a century. The congress nor any other representative group took this action, it was an arbitrary decision made behind closed doors. Everyone has a constitutional right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This exists within the precept that your actions in pursuit of these do no harm to others. My smoking of marijuana does NOT harm anyone else. The so called liberties of this country have now, two centuries later, become only a thin vail of these original liberties. It was once said of a very prominant communist that "we will not have to fight you, we will conquer you from within", and this has pretty much become the case. The mentality of our government now is that THEY know what is best for you and you must FOLLOW their decisions. Well I have one statement in reply to this. "Live free or die!" Liberty shall not perish from the face of the earth while I am alive. If anyone in my government has a problem with this, they need to reread the Constitution which is the root document of my challenge to the laws regarding marijuana as they exist today. In defense of this, I stand behind the Second Amendment of the Constitution. As it was written, so shall it be done. David
